Yum!  Welcome to the first day of melon harvest!  We had to sample them in the field first thing this morning and there is NOTHING better for a hot steamy day than a chin-dripping juicy melon.  DelishJ

We had a bad batch of watermelon seed this spring that didn’t germinate properly and by the time we had settled up with the seed company, it was late in planting season, so our watermelons are JUST blossoming.  In the meantime, we’ll put a cantaloupe or canary melon in shares and then the watermelons should be along shortly.

Potatoes are ready to harvest.  We will begin this week or next.

Most importantly in farm news, the Kitten is ready for adoption.  I will put videos and photos of him on our Facebook page.   If you are not on Facebook, shoot me an email and I’ll send you photos and videos of His Cuteness.  Here are the stats:  Found with the Saturday trash about 5 weeks ago.  We bottle fed him, trained him to use the litter box and socialized him with our barn cats, the dog (he and the dog play hard together) and introduced him to both inside and barn life.  He is weaned and consistently eating canned cat food and dry kibble cat food and has been wormed for round worms.  When inside he uses a litterbox.  He’s about 8 wks, give or take a few days.  His eyes have changed from blue to a pretty tan color. He comes with a bag of cat litter and a bag of cat food.  He is free to a good home.
